Join the next chapter of Gyde Consulting’s growth
We have opportunities for highly motivated, energetic, and capable town planners and urban designers to join our growing consulting firm.
Who are we?
Gyde Consulting is a multi-disciplinary team of 50 experienced planning, urban design, social planning, communications and data analytics specialists operating from offices in Sydney, Newcastle and the Capital Region.
We provide services across industry, corporate and government sectors and are engaged in a diverse range of planning, urban design, place and development studies and projects.
Delivering quality work, with exceptional, practical (and realistic) planning, development and placing outcomes, is at the core of our work.
About the Opportunities
We are inviting applications from passionate town planning professionals or urban designers with a desire to grow, learn and contribute to a range of projects in collaborative and supportive teams.
You will be based in Gyde’s Sydney or Newcastle offices and contribute to resourcing projects across metropolitan and regional NSW, in a mix of project teams and disciplines. Blended skills across statutory and strategic planning/urban design areas and demonstrated capability to deliver a wide range of project scales and types would be highly regarded.
If you are looking to work for a company that values meaningful work, a positive team culture and ongoing professional development, we would love to hear from you.
We are open to considering applicants at various levels of experience. Right now, we are looking for people who are energetic, enthusiastic and knowledgeable, but still building their experience and skills. There is an expectation that successful applicants will have enough experience (at commencement) to interpret planning legislation, assess the development potential of properties, or report on the environmental impacts of proposals. Or you can deliver strategic planning reports or make significant contributions to projects aimed at high quality places, design or social outcomes. If you can deliver across all these areas, please apply.
What skills, experience and capabilities are we looking for?
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in planning and/or urban design
- A demonstrated understanding and experience of planning legislation, strategies and approvals processes in NSW.
- A passion for delivering high-quality planning, design, and community outcomes.
- Well-developed organisational skills, with an ability to prioritise, implement and complete projects and tasks independently and efficiently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and a professional “can-do” attitude. A good sense of humour would be well regarded.
- Commitment to continuing professional development and an interest in PIA Membership (or another relevant professional body).
- Strong graphic and modelling skills would be highly regarded (including Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, CAD and QGIS). Urban design applicants will be encouraged to share a portfolio of completed design work upon interview.
What’s in it for you?
- A vibrant, supportive working environment with mentoring opportunities from industry leaders and the ability to progress your career within the company. We offer continuing professional development allowance and contribute to professional association membership.
- You would work directly on projects with a mix of senior staff in the Gyde teams in Sydney, Newcastle and the Capital Region, often across teams with a range of disciplines and experience.
- Competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Access to an annual performance bonus (based on company and individual performance).
- Flexible working arrangements.
- Access to a generous parental leave scheme (above legislative requirements) and additional purchased leave.
- Access to an Employee Assistance Program.
- Part-time work may also be considered, subject to finding the right “fit” for our team.
