Who are we?

Gyde Consulting is a multi-disciplinary team of 50 highly regarded planning, analytics, urban design, social planning and communications specialists operating from offices in Sydney, Newcastle and the Capital Region.

We provide services across industry, corporate and government sectors. Delivering high quality work, with exceptional, practical and realistic outcomes, is at the core of everything we do.

Gyde has in-house expertise in reporting on the strategic merit of development projects. Using a variety of in-house data and analytical tools we assess existing and future project demand and market trends. We break down demand analysis on key demographic, social and economic measures, as well as reviewing existing and proposed developments that will impact demand.

We produce outputs that help position projects to meet to future needs, as well as contribute to key government strategic metrics and targets. Our analysis is tailored to suite project needs ranging from graphical vision settings to detailed, technical reports.

Our analytical team has the expertise to assist at all stages of project development including initial site selection and review of site suitability and market demand for proposed locations.

About the job

We are looking for someone to join our Data Analytics team where you will help solve problems for government and private sector clients. You will analyse multiple datasets from a variety of sources, find the insights and present the findings in a compelling way.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Communicate complex data analysis with simple graphics and images that tell the stories behind the data
  • Use data visualization tools (such as Power BI, data wrapper and/or Python/R) to create completing charts, maps and tables
  • Cleanse and merge datasets from various sources (examples include but not limited to ABS, Government APIs, and excel tables) with minimal supervision
  • Identify and document analysis required for each project
  • Undertake complex analysis on datasets using Excel, R and Python.
  • Setup data reporting process, manage databases, and complete reports and presentations to assist in communicating findings
  • Actively participate in learning and development opportunities and keep up to date with the latest industry developments/trends.

What skills, experience and capabilities are we looking for?

To be successful you will understand the meaning behind the numbers, the people it impacts and the effect your analysis has on the projects you are working on.

With your experience, you would have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide outcomes clearly and concisely.  

You will have worked in the public sector and/or private sector in data analysis, ideally with around 2 years of professional experience, but we are open to considering applicants at various levels of experience.

You will be a collegiate and collaborative team player.

You will need to have:

- Bachelor’s Degree or above, preferably in a science, urban analytics, information technology, economics or equivalent discipline.

- Demonstrated ability to collect raw data from several sources, analyse the data and present the key findings in a simple and compelling way.

- Knowledge and practical experience in Excel, VBA, SQL, python programming, R or other programming and statistical packages.

- Demonstrated experience and ability to collect, cleanse, analyse and visualise complex datasets from various sources (ABS, Government APIs, raw excel tables, and/or others).

- An agile attitude to work, and a commitment to learn and grow.

- Demonstrated attention to detail.
