About the Role

Opportunities exist for highly motivated students to join the Gyde team as Assistant Planners in our Sydney and/or Newcastle offices. This is a great opportunity for those wishing to complete the student work placement requirements of their studies and gain practical town planning experience within a respected company in the industry.

The successful applicant/s will undertake a broad range of tasks including:

• interpreting planning legislation, development controls, and strategic plans and policies

• research and data analysis to inform strategic planning policies

• inputs into urban design master plans

• preparing fee proposals

• assessing the development potential of properties

• assessing potential environmental impacts of proposed developments

• preparing written and oral submissions on behalf of the Company

• liaising with clients, consent authorities, government agencies, and other professionals

• assisting in the collation and lodgement of planning reports/documents

• project managing small projects

• assist in drafting planning proposals and development applications

About you

To be successful you will demonstrate:

• energy, reliability, and positivity

• consistently high results achieved whilst undertaking a tertiary qualification

• excellent written and oral communication skills

• appreciation and understanding of the NSW planning system

• an interest in contemporary planning and related issues

• an ability to prioritise, implement instructions, and be motivated to complete tasks on time

• attention to detail, outcome focus, and professional and courteous attitude.

• a willingness to work in a team environment with the ability to show initiative and manage individual responsibility.

A willingness to work in our Newcastle office will be favourably considered
